Hey guys, happy Saturday! Weekends are the best aren't they? I just wish we had more of them.
First of all, I wish this summer would never end. It's been so good, I will just be wringing every last drop out of it for the next month and a half. I took Duke to the county fair this week and had such a blast. Just me and him, we cruised the carnival, ate corndogs and snow-cones, petted a few horse snouts, and in the middle of the chicken barn, Duke yelled "PU!" and everyone laughed. He was immediately proud and embarrassed.
This just feels like the best summer of my life, and I mean that. Maybe this is why people don't have the power to stop time, because I sure wouldn't be able to resist the temptation right now. I'd hit the pause button without hesitation, but who knows, maybe it gets even cooler down the road.

INTO IT
I was thinking the other day that maybe the reason I'm so obsessed with hot, stagnant summer heat is because this summer has been so good, I'm just dying to introduce some bad into the mix. Sounds stupid, no? But it will end, and I know that, so maybe I'm unconsciously hoping to make it unbearable so the fall doesn't bum me out too bad. I don't know, psychology is weird and maybe it's not even that, but for now, I can't get enough of the kind of heat you can see.

SHOPPING
Making that late summer transition and I've been really into rusty orange this year.

READING
I picked up and put down two books earlier this month after only making it about a third of the way into both. I just couldn't get into them and I'm willing to move on, but it does feel like I wasted the first week of the month. Oh well, can't get it back. A friend lent me Joyland by Stephen King that I'm just finishing up and it's classic King in terms of engagement - it's good. And it's more murder mystery than weird horror, so if that's your thing, I'd give it a go.
I'm also reading through They Ask, You Answer (for work, duh) and Sima's Undergarments for Women, which is a re-read for me, but not since 2011-ish.

PLANS
Probably the regular Saturday thing here. Ryan's family is in town visiting for the first time this summer, so we'll be showing them our favorite locales, starting number one with the farmers market and breakfast at the beach.
See ya next week!
