OCTOBER WARDROBE CAPSULE || Follow Up

by - 7:10 AM

Hey guys, did you know there are 50 days left of the year? And the decade! I've been listening to Elsie and Emma's new podcast and took inspiration from episode 3 to start a 50 day challenge. Just a couple of habit switches like not eating sugar and trying to get 10k steps every day. It'll be fun to go into a new year with a few resolutions done instead of the other way around.

Anyway, since October wrapped up my first ever capsule wardrobe, I wanted to follow up on that. Spoiler Alert: I liked it so much, I decided to keep it up in November.

A friendly reminder of what I had in my October Capsule.

October Wardrobe Capsule What Worked and What Didn't Work
Having a capsule was a morning game changer. I did not stray even once and it made my routine so much faster. I definitely wound up wearing some of the same outfits every week, but that's okay. It took me five minutes to get dressed every day instead of 45.

WHAT WORKED:
I wore the heck out of the green chinos and the burgundy long-sleeve tee. Like, twice a week, every week.

WHAT DIDN'T:
I was definitely surprised to see that there were a few things I just never reached for. The flare American Eagle jeans I tried on a couple of times and they just never worked out. The skirt, well I hate the fit. The pockets on the striped hoodie bug me. I think they're cute, but even with a limited selection, I couldn't make myself wear them, so it's probably time to part with them. The "nice" orange sweatshirt and the denim jacket are still favorites, but they just didn't fit in with anything this month, so I put them away for now.

NOVEMBER CAPSULE:
I'm mostly keeping what worked in October and carrying that through November. I think there will be a big switch in December when I like to pull out Christmas colors and retire the burgundy and oranges for the season, but for now, it stays. We're also buried in snow, so boots and a down coat were added to the mix out of sheer necessity.

November 2019 Capsule Wardrobe

I was so so so excited to find the orange Banana Republic cords on ThredUp a few weeks ago. Same with the rust colored jacket and the Sorel wedge boots. I'll do a post on ThredUp purchases later this month, so stay tuned.

I bought the glossy gray Hunter Boots at Sams last winter and truthfully I've regretted picking that color ever since. I bought a neutral purposely, but I just don't love them and I think about getting black ones instead all the time. Or green. But for now, this is what I have and they work well for all this snow.

So it was a success!

What about you. Have you tried a capsule wardrobe? How did it go?
